According to a recent Gallup poll, 79 percent of U.S. adults believe in God. And as the trend line in the graph shows, this belief in God continues to decrease. In 2007, 86 percent of U.S. adults said they believed in God.
Conversely, 6 percent of U.S. adults in 2007 said they didn’t believe in God. Today, 11 percent of U.S. adults said they don’t believe in God.
And in 2007, 8 percent of those surveyed stated they weren’t sure if they believed in God. In 2016, 10 percent of those surveyed said they weren’t sure.
Finally, respondents were asked if they believed in, didn’t believe in, or weren’t sure about angels, heaven, hell, and the devil. Here are their responses:
